The NBA Live 2010 Promise List Explained

This year, both EA and 2K have come out with exceptional basketball games. I'm playing and enjoying both, and have issues with both.

There are a number of issues in NBA 2009 that for whatever reasons made it through in the release, and were not fixed in the patch, but some of the development team have promised that they will be "fixed next year."

That prompted the creation of the Promise List - a list of fixes that have been promised or that address issues with basic game functions and that must be in the 2010 game, and must be shown to be in the game, before purchase. The hope is that other people will make the commitment:

- Gamers to not buy the game until the elements on the promise list have been shown to be addressed in the new game.

- Community leaders who attend the community day check these issues to make certain they have been fixed, and report on the status of these items.

- The game developers to keep these promises - to address these issues. Also to make sure no similar new issues pop up in the game.

- Reviewers to keep these issues in mind when evaluating the game.

This is not meant to be negative. One game developer mentioned on a forum that a certain issue had not been discovered by gamers until after the patch was released. So this list serves as a reminder of issues that have been found so that they don't drop through the cracks.

Now the task is for people to comment with other issues that can be on the list. Keep in mind this isn't an all inclusive wish list for 2010, other sites do that well. This is a list of current issues with NBA Live 2009 that:

- Are basic game functions that are broken - such as players not returning to IR, crashes in specific situations, etc. AND/OR
- Developers have specifically promised to fix or address this in the 2010 game.
- People accepting the NBA Live 2010 Promise List commit to seeing a fix in 2010 before making a purchase.

For those submitting issues to make the list, in the case that a promise was made to fix it in the next game, please include a link to a message board post in which that promise was made. The issue will be added to the list without fail, no questions asked.

  1. The "Crispness" is gone from the movement of the players. The steals are kind of unrealistic the way a player just intercepts certain passes. Another defect I found is that sometimes players will inbound the ball without pressing the pass button. Also you are able to press the layup button at the top of the key and the player automatically moves toward the rim. A player should be able to call a timeout in between free-throws. Out of a timeout, sometimes the defense will stay in the huddle. The dunks and alley-oops need to be more natural. It would be nice to somehow control two players at once like you can control a blocker in Madden. Also, in NBA Live 09, you knew as soon as a shot left a players hand weather or not it was going in due to the arch of the shot. Also defense could be more alert,(again here is where somehow being able to control two players at a time would come in handy I know this isn't a wish list tho) but these are some of the issues I've been frustrated with.
